Tips to Improve Your Home's Indoor Air Quality this Spring

March 16, 2021 | Blog

Spring is a wonderful time of the year, with mild temperatures, lots of sunny days and lush green vegetation. But it’s also a time of pollen and other allergy-inducing pollutants that can leave you coughing and sneezing even inside your home. If you’re feeling the effects of poor air quality in your home this spring, follow these air purification tips.

Replace Your Air Filters

Over time, dust and other debris build up on your air filters — that’s what they’re for. But it’s important to change your filter at least every two to three months to keep the buildup from allowing these indoor pollutants to circulate through your HVAC system and through your air ducts. Not only does this affect your indoor air quality, but it can also cause issues with your AC system.

If you have children or pets, check your filter once a month and replace it if it’s dirty. In addition, schedule an AC tune-up each spring to ensure your air conditioner is clean and ready for summer.

Get Some Spring Cleaning Done

Even though it’s a big task to tackle, we all feel better after spring cleaning. Keeping your home clean by vacuuming often and preventing dust buildup on surfaces throughout your home is one of the best ways to improve air quality. Especially if you have shedding pets, removing dirt, dust and pet dander from your home’s atmosphere will help you breathe easier.

Start an Indoor Garden

Did you know that indoor plants are proven to remove pollutants from the air in your home? Not to mention they make a great addition to any room. If you’ve been eager to try out your green thumb, now is a perfect time. Get some houseplants, give them some water and sunlight and they will do the rest. The more you have, the better!

Keep Pollutants Outside

While it feels nice to open a window or leave the door open when that perfect spring day arrives, it’s not the best idea for allergy sufferers. Opening windows and doors lets outdoor pollutants, like pollen and mold spores, into your home. It’s a good idea to keep your home as sealed off as possible if you’re concerned about indoor air quality, especially when the pollen count is high.

Invest in Air Purification

The best strategy for improving indoor air quality is investing in an air purifier or a similar air quality system. Air purification systems, which can range from portable plug-in appliances to equipment attached directly to your HVAC system, actively work to remove pollutants from your home’s air. This additional protection prevents mold growth, reduces allergy symptoms inside and keeps potentially harmful chemical pollutants out of your air.

Great Company

Great company. Contacted my current AC company to check on my warranty before charging me anything. Saved me a bunch of money and headache if dealing with anything. Would definitely recommend them and use them again.
