When you’re in the process of hiring a heating and cooling contractor, you should consider several things before you make your decision. When replacing a system you are making a decision that you will have to live with for the next 10 to 12 years at least. Make sure you are making an informed decision.
Check how long the company has been in business. If the company just started last week, you might want to keep looking. They may be great, but you don’t want them practicing on your time and they may not have the experience to find and fix your problems properly.
Make sure the company has the proper license? Contractors in Texas have to have a license holder that works full time at each office. In addition to the main license holder, each technician that works on your system has to be registered with the state.
Will the contractor do the work himself? If the person you are talking to plans to subcontract the work, you may be wasting your time with him. You want to talk to the person who is going to be in charge of the work.
Is the Company locally owned or part of a big conglomerate? A locally owned company can give you more personal attention and tends to care more about taking care of customers, plus you keep your money working here locally.
Is there a warranty? This is important, and you need to know up front and get it in writing. You don’t want to be left hanging if something goes wrong in a couple of months.
Does the company carry adequate insurance? If a worker damages something, or if there is damage due to the work, the company needs to reimburse you. If the company is not insured, it may not be able to pay for repairs.
It helps if the heating and cooling contractor you’re talking with is friendly and helpful. That’s the way we are at CCAC, Inc.— constantly concerned about customers, plus we’re confident we’ll give you satisfactory answers to all of your questions.
