There are several good heating options for homes here in the Coastal Bend area, but choosing the right one for your home can be a daunting process without expert help. Before you call for expert advice, read the following information about comparing home heating systems.
When comparing home heating systems, you’ll need to consider the energy source you’d like to use and the method of delivering that heat throughout your home. Most modern heating systems rely on natural gas, propane, fuel oil or electricity for generating heat before it’s distributed throughout the home. Abundant natural gas supplies in the Corpus Christi area make natural gas furnaces a popular choice, but many homeowners like to opt for the energy efficiency of electric heat pumps, which are ideally suited for our mild winters and can double up as an air conditioner on hot days.
For existing homes, choosing an energy source and distribution system may be easier to make, since simply updating your existing system with efficient equipment might make the most sense. In many cases if you have electric heat now you can opt to upgrade to the more efficient heat pump system. For new construction, you can decide whether you want to go with electric heat, heat pump, or gas heat.
