Get Your Corpus Christi Home Ready for Spring with These Maintenance Tips

March 13, 2015 | Blog

Spring is almost here, making it the ideal time to perform some important housekeeping and home maintenance tasks. You can keep your Corpus Christi home in tip-top shape with these home maintenance tips.

Get an AC Tune-Up

Your air conditioning system needs an annual tune-up to stay in prime condition. Spring is the ideal time to complete this task. Get your system in top order before you turn it on for the season by scheduling your tune-up early. Remember, you won’t be the only spring customer scheduling this service! Some HVAC companies offer a maintenance plan that includes routine care.

Check Your HVAC Filters

You should clean or replace your HVAC filters regularly. If you don’t know how to do this, ask your HVAC professional to show you how during your annual tune-up. Most heating and cooling maintenance companies are an excellent source for purchasing new filters and gathering home maintenance tips for replacement.

Inspect Your Attic Space

Don’t restrict your spring cleaning to the lower portion of your home. Head up and inspect your attic, even if you don’t use it as a functional storage space. Look for rodent droppings, nests and other signs of unwelcome visitors. If your attic isn’t insulated already, consider hiring a professional to add insulation to reduce your energy costs.

Check Your Plumbing for Signs of Damage

Inspect your pipes for signs of corrosion or leaks. Cracked supply hoses or wet spots may indicate a problem area that should be addressed by a professional. Catching these weak areas early can save you from making bigger home repairs later.

Reprogram Your Thermostat

Adjust your programmable thermostat seasonally for the most energy savings. As the weather warms, you can adjust your home temperatures accordingly. If you don’t have a programmable thermostat, this is an excellent time to speak with your HVAC professional about an upgrade.

It’s important to keep your home in top shape for the coming season. Contact CCAC for all your HVAC repair, installation and maintenance needs in the Corpus Christi area.
